About YETISPORT

Epic Experiences for Legendary Athletes!
YETISPORT is an Alberta-based non-profit society dedicated to creating legendary race experiences that inspire, include, and empower.
Founded in 2024 by Alexander Patton and a mysterious-yet-enthusiastic mascot named Tooks the Yeti, YETISPORT was born from a simple idea: make triathlon exciting, accessible, and unforgettable for all.
We organize and support races across Alberta with a focus on youth, community, and growth. From first-timers to future champions, our events are designed to welcome everyone to the sport—whether you’re swimming your first 50 metres or crossing your hundredth finish line.
But YETISPORT is more than races. We’re a movement. A community. A team of volunteers, athletes, families, and fans who believe sport should be bold, inclusive, and fun. Our motto, “Be Legendary,” is more than a slogan—it’s our challenge to every athlete to show up, give it their all, and create stories worth sharing.
Together, we’re building a new chapter in Alberta’s sport history—one that’s filled with finish-line cheers, fearless efforts, and the frosty footprints of one unforgettable yeti.
Our Legend
A long time ago—before bikes zipped down roads and kids wore swim caps—there lived a special creature hidden in the snowy mountains and forests of Alberta. This creature had fluffy white fur, big happy feet, and a heart as warm as summer sunshine. He came from a long line of Alberta yetis, who were known for being quiet, kind, and super shy.
His family moved across the land, eventually settling near the famous Okotoks Big Rock—a giant rock dropped there by a glacier thousands of years ago! They loved it because it felt magical, just like them. Our mascot was born there and named "Took" after his home. They kept to themselves, hiding in trees, caves, and snowbanks, and no one really knew they were there… until one unforgettable summer.
In 2023, something amazing happened. The Alberta Summer Games came to Okotoks, and for the first time ever, our yeti peeked out from behind the Big Rock and saw… a triathlon! Kids were swimming, biking, and running with big smiles on their faces. There were cheers, high-fives, and medals at the finish line. The yeti’s big eyes sparkled.
“I want to do that!” he thought. “I want to be part of something fun like this!”
So he started training—carefully at first, because running in giant feet isn’t easy! But with time, he got faster and braver. And guess what? He loved the sport so much, he wanted to make sure every kid in Alberta could try it too.
In 2024, he teamed up with his new friend Alexander Patton, and together they started YETISPORT, a non-profit team that creates awesome races and brings triathlon to kids and families all across Alberta.
Now, Took our yeti isn’t hiding anymore! You might spot him at races, cheering on athletes, handing out medals, or doing his famous finish-line dance. He still gets a little shy sometimes—but when the starting whistle blows, there’s no stopping him!
So if you ever feel nervous to try something new, just remember:
Even a shy yeti can become a triathlon superstar!
